This event has ended.

Brennan & Griffin presents How Do I Transform This Negative Into A Positive? an exhibition of new works by Kristin Calabrese.

In this body of work, the artist investigates the language and imagery analogous to one’s understanding of mortality. In each piece, Calabrese assembles elaborate constructions of objects and images in an attempt to engage this subject through both representational and psychological perspective. Decaying and blooming flowers, holes in the earth, a white flag floating over a city scape are all visual metaphors for decay, fear of the unknown, and surrender. Through a variety of interventions their meanings are transformed.

Kristin Calabrese lives and works in Los Angeles. She received her MFA from UCLA in Los Angeles, California in 1998. Previous Solo Exhibitions include Gagosian Gallery, Beverly Hills, Susanne Vielmetter, Los Angeles, Leo Koenig, Inc., New York, Michael Janssen, Cologne, Germany, and The Green Gallery, Milwaukee. Calabrese is the recipient of the 2013-14 California Community Foundation Mid-Career Artists Fellowship. This will be her second Solo Exhibition with Brennan & Griffin.
