“My art style is influenced by Japanese manga and American graphic novels. I love the soft and delicate style of manga and the bold and dynamic brush strokes of American graphic novels. I’m a self-taught artist and all of my comic characters are based on me or my friends.

This exhibition will show my creative process and feature original black and white pages and illustrations of Biker Girl, Rock and Roll Love, Detective Jermain, Peach de Punch, Kodomo Eigojuku, and others.”

-Misako Rocks! a.k.a Misako Takashima, is a Japanese illustrator who relocated to New York City in 2001. A graduate of Hosei University in Tokyo, Takashima’s illustrations were featured weekly in The Onion, and she has published several graphic novels including Biker Girl, Rock and Roll Love, and Detective Jermain. She currently resides in Brooklyn.
