This event has ended.

Like the ancient alchemists search for the philosopher’s stone, creating art can quickly become a metaphor of the path to enlightenment. Cam Rackam embarks down this path in his latest series Pantheon. A body of work that has taken him 4 years to create.

In Greek, Pantheon means all gods or more well known temple of the gods.

Steeped heavily in Classical Mythology, Cam delivers scenes and portraits of the primordial mythos and tragedies of old. With 36 never seen before oil paintings and sculptures, Cam has re-constructed a Necropolis of old myths and ancient sorcery to build a tapestry of terror, love, sex, and death. He maintains that ancient mythology can be connected into a seemingly infinite amount of modern day facets. From our architecture to our ideology to literature and even our basic vocabulary stems from the old legends. Cam attempts to not only make these connections but reveal them in a new way. His painting techniques have an odd sense of morphology mixed with chiaroscuro. The frame work around the paintings has begun to grow into sculptures themselves. Assembled out of mirrors, taxidermy, toy sculpture, and jewelry Cam breaths life into chaos making both frame and painting coalesce. So intricate and delicate, Cam will be hand delivering them in the 2,800 mile drive from Orange County. He has also commissioned a special soundtrack designed just for the show, and will be also be offering 100 free prints to the first attendees at the door. Cam plans to make Pantheon not just a visual experience but a feast for the senses.

“I’ve always wanted the opportunity to make a body of work uniquely of my own vision. For the last for years I’ve been hopelessly obsessed with classical mythology. I’ve really giving it my all.”

Born in Southern California, Cam Rackam has been painting and sculpting for 13 years. Best known for his commission work for bands like Avenged Sevenfold, Slipknot, The Dirty Heads, and Sir Paul McCartney Cam graduated from Cal State Fullerton with a BFA in Drawing and Painting. He served as gallery director of the Congregation Gallery in Hollywood for several years, but now he paints for only a select few private collections. Cam has participated in more than 60 art shows, curating many of them himself.
