“Menagerie” Exhibition

poster for “Menagerie” Exhibition

This event has ended.

Creatures real and imaginary, large and small, fly, crawl, strut and slither in a cacophony of color. From Brazil to Borneo, this international menagerie of sculpted animals is sure to amaze!

A white woven horse from the Balinese Fire Dance, to a Peruvian votive llama, many of the works have ritual or religious significance, while others are a testament to the creativity that can transform gnarled root wood into a snake or dragon. Elegant, playful or spiritual, these animals show the innate understanding that the artist’s have for their subject matter, but ultimately take on an anthropomorphic aspect, reflecting the culture and heritage through which they were created.

This exhibition marks the opening of Luise Ross Gallery’s fifth location in thirty years, and continues our commitment and tradition of showing strong, idiosyncratic work by artists both untrained and trained.
