This event has ended.

"I am sitting in a room different from the one you are in now. I am recording the sound of my speaking voice and I am going to play it back into the room again and again until the resonant frequencies of the room reinforce themselves so that any semblance of my speech, with perhaps the exception of rhythm, is destroyed. What you will hear, then, are the natural resonant frequencies of the room articulated by speech. I regard this activity not so much as a demonstration of a physical fact, but more as a way to smooth out any irregularities my speech might have."

Throughout the show's run, we will host a total of seven different performances, each on a unique day of the week. All of the performances will relate in some way to the exhibition itself, as well as to the specific day of the week on which the performance is to occur. These are scheduled every other day this week, as well as every other day leading up to the closing, on Friday, April 12th, which will feature a special performance of Lucier's seminal work "I am sitting in a room," from which the exhibition derives its title. Take a look at the schedule below, and choose which performances are best for you. All are free and open to the public, with a suggested donation for the performers.
