This event has ended.

Brooklyn, NY August 2013, Causey Contemporary is pleased to announce the opening of Fallen Women by Carri Skoczek. The exhibition which opens with an artists reception on October 10th and runs until November 3, 2013 will feature Ms. Skoczek’s interpretative portraits of Fallen Women from History, Literature and Art.

Fallen Women focuses on such women as Cortigiana Oresta, Van Gogh’s Geisha, and Bellocq’s women. As with all Carri’s paintings and linocuts, this newest series will focus on the women’s personality as Carri, herself is fascinated by personality and human behavior. The series also continues Ms. Skoczek’s exploration of female sexuality as a power tool. The resulting images are women, beautiful, contentious, bold and unashamed in their sexuality and sensualness.

In addition, each of the paintings incorporate her unique painting media of pearlized powders and printer’s ink. Fallen Women marks Carri’s fourth solo exhibition with Causey Contemporary.
