This event has ended.

The Proposition presents Chicago-based installation artist/sculptor, Camille Iemmolo. Camille’s work is clean, classic and simple, childlike but at times strangely provocative, light and airy, yet full of dark human truths. Though the work is quiet, one hopes the viewer will watch and listen closely… like a ghost passing across a silent movie, stirring loud and in their soul.

Though she’d been riding horses throughout childhood, Two years ago she took a very serious fall that could have been fatal, breaking her neck. Out of this accident came a 10-foot installation: a house, covered in 21,000 band-aids and scotch tape dedicated to her brother. The BAND-AID HOUSE-AT PLAY is a metaphorical safe place in which the viewer can reflect on the human condition with a deeper sense of grace and gratitude.

The BAND-AID HOUSE was recently part of the special curatorial projects at Art/Miami Dec. 2013. Camille’s house spoke to thousands of passers-by, proving that we humans are aching to reach out and connect with one another in a world where we often feel we should not.

Can the viewer resist what is hidden inside? Only one way to find out- “Come and dance in the BAND-AID HOUSE, come and sing to my TALKING PIANO, and come and join my WRITE BACK SUPER HEROES CLUB and let your lost words be revealed.”

Camille continues to work with material culture, continuing to explore fantasy narratives, partly inspired by her earlier work of using repetition of familiar phrases and the importance of the written word and more specifically letter writing. Due to modern technology it seems as if though there is an ever- growing extinction of proper communication and perhaps the death of the sentence. Revisiting the letter-writing idea, she will again involve the viewer at hand. The viewer will be invited to write to a person that or what they have been meaning to write.

Participants are encouraged to stuff their missives into Camille’s installation where their words will become part of the WRITE BACK SUPER HEROES.
