This event has ended.

DCKT Contemporary presents ACID SUMMER, a group exhibition curated by Matthew Craven. ACID SUMMER brings together 14 young artists, each with a dynamic aesthetic that borders on Pop but is also central to the human experience.

New York summers are a hot, sweaty mess. A strange feeling overcomes the city as the sky turns orange and the heat takes over. Our patience is tested as our brains start to melt. This summer stare directly into the sun. Across their varied practices, this group of artists consistently draws on modes of representation and abstraction to inform their visual vocabularies. Using the language of sacred geometry, popular culture and ritual process, ACID SUMMER takes a closer look at this psychedelic world in which we live.

Matthew Craven is an artist who lives and works in New York City. He received his MFA from the School of Visual Arts (SVA) in 2010. His work has been exhibited at Allegra LaViola Gallery (NYC) and Marvelli Gallery (NYC) and he has both exhibited at and curated exhibitions for Nudashank (Baltimore). A selection of recent works will be on view in the office at DCKT Contemporary.
