At our annual exhibition, the New York Society of Etchers will present a special exhibition of etchings by NYSE board members, and guest etchers from the Chicago Printmakers Collaborative. We are pleased to announce that Chicago based artists Michael Goro, Deborah Maris Lader, Duffy O’Connor, Megan Sterling, Michelle McCoy and Scott Westgard will join us in presenting some 50 contemporary etchings.
The Chicago Printmakers Collaborative is the longest-running independent print shop in Chicago providing Chicago-area printmakers with a facility and community in which to pursue their work. Since its founding, the organization has promoted the art of the handmade print through shop access, classes, workshops, lectures, exhibitions, and public events. The Collaborative accommodates a diverse range of printmaking media, including etching, lithography, screenprinting, monotype, relief, letterpress and book arts.
The New York Society of Etchers has organized and presented over 20 exhibitions of contemporary intaglio prints at The National Arts Club since 2000. Their semi-annual exhibitions are widely considered to be among the most important surveys of American etching held each year in the United States.
