This event has ended.

Tally Beck Contemporary presents the first solo exhibition in New York for Thai artist Songwoot Kaewvisit. Golden Grain features five new paintings from Kaewvisit’s Golden Grain series and two large-scale canvases from his Snake Oil series.

Kaewvisit models and explores elements of Thai neo-traditionalism and Western visual language in his paintings, while speaking directly to his origin in the Isaan region of Thailand. The canvases’ disarming compositions and warm tones invite a meditative response from their viewers.

In 2004, ASEAN awarded Kaewvisit first prize in its national painting contest for one of the Golden Grain paintings. Tally Beck Contemporary began representing Kaewvisit in 2010. Since then, Golden Grain paintings have been added to collections in the United States and Israel.

The artist is a professor in the Department of Fine Arts at Khon Kaen University in the center of Thailand’s Isaan region. His work has been exhibited in New York, Miami, Houston and Bangkok.
