Whitney Oldenburg “Inside Out”

Gitana Rosa Gallery

poster for Whitney Oldenburg “Inside Out”

This event has ended.

This will be Oldenburg’s‘ first solo exhibition at Gitana Rosa. “Inside Out”, comprises of two sets of multi-layered large canvases. Part of the series exhibited are representations of her own metacognitive mind maps. These paintings are maps of her thoughts and the titles are the times that the thought on the canvas occurred.

In her new work, Whitney moves away from the traditional oil on canvas and incorporates pumice and burlap. These paintings are a more emotional reaction to her current life direction. The process is long and meditative and the work takes on a subconscious dream
like quality.

Whitney was raised in Jacksonville, FL and received her BFA at Cornell University. Whitney has exhibited at a wide variety of venues and events including the Museum of Contemporary Art Jacksonville, the Cloisters Hotel in Sea Island, the Left Bank Gallery, and the Project
Sunshine Annual Gala at New York’s Cipriani’s 42.

Whitney will begin her MFA at Rhode Island School of Design this fall.
