This event has ended.

hpgrp GALLERY NY presents two exhibitions, “Dust Collector” by Nao Matsumoto and “Piece of Cake” by Lori Kirkbride.

Nao Matsumoto has been added to the HPGRP roster of artists after his solo exhibition “4″. Matsumoto’s sculptures are laden with conceptual layers indicated with symbols, motifs and puns. Each layer depict, suggest and often mock the dualities of nature and civilization. Matsumoto combines his keen sense of observation and humor with his immaculate craftsmanship. ”Dust Collector” is a mini series of exhibitions that focuses on past works by Matsumoto.

Lori Kirkbride has an extraordinary sense for color; which can be described as – childish girliness meets psychedelic , overdosed on candy. Kirkbride creates paintings that are vibrant and euphoric. Viewers experience a sense of “happiness” which is often under valued in the recent trend of over intellectualized art viewership. Kirkbride will be exhibiting her new work as well as her “piece of cake” installation which is composed of 1000 paintings covering the main gallery wall. Each paintings are hand made by the artist and for its sheer scale and repetitive qualities, the “cake” might leave a sugary after taste of icing upon viewing.
Each piece of cake is numbered and is for sale at any quantity.

Kirkbride and Matsumoto will be launching an art gallery, aptly named “Lorimoto” located in Ridgewood, NY – (off the L -train) which will open May 31st during the Bushwick Open Studios event. For more info visit:
