PAVEL ZOUBOK GALLERY presents L’Objet Trouvé: Readymade, Rectified & Reassembled and SALVATORE MEO: Reclamation, two exhibitions that explore the expressive power and continued resonance of the found object since the introduction of MARCEL DUCHAMP’s seminal Bicycle Wheel of 1913. Marking the centenary of this iconic work, L’Objet Trouvé surveys the varied usages of commercially produced materials in the work of over thirty modern and contemporary artists. In counterpoint, iconoclast and trailblazer SALVATORE MEO (1914-2004) created mixed media constructions with a particular interest in gestural abstraction and an object-based approach to drawing. Reclamation focuses on the artist’s haunting early assemblages of urban debris.
