This event has ended.

William Holman Gallery presents The December Drawing Show, a group exhibition of works by artists who have shown with the gallery over the past year. Here are some thoughts on drawing, which have inspired the exhibition:

All good and genuine draftsmen draw according to the picture inscribed in their minds, and not according to nature. (Charles Baudelaire)

I draw like other people bite their nails. (Pablo Picasso)

My contribution to the world is my ability to draw… Drawing is still basically the same as it has been since prehistoric times. It brings together man and the world. It lives through magic. (Keith Haring)

Participating artists include: Richard Barnet, Peter Bonner, Rebecca Bird, Anthony Brownbill, John Cunningham, Michael Davis, Gail Goldsmith, Nicolette Jelen, Tom Judd, Rosa Lasaosa, Massimo Lippi and Liv Mette Larsen.

The December Drawing Show hosts the work of thirteen artists, whose drawing techniques cover a broad range of inquiry. Known for her surreal watercolor drawings, Rebecca Bird uniquely employs traditional Japanese watercolor techniques to create disorienting imagined landscapes in the contemporary world. Ever the draftsman, Michael Davis contributes two new charcoal drawings, which destabilize boundaries between figuration and abstraction, subject matter and medium. Peter Bonner and Massimo Lippi both contribute organic pastel works, which, while smaller in scale, are packed with artistic and emotional intensity.
