International Print Center New York
This event has ended.
International Print Center New York presents News/Prints: Printmaking and the Newspaper, curated by Anders Bergstrom and Anne LaFond.
News/Prints: Printmaking and the Newspaper is a group exhibit of prints that highlights the longstanding relationship of printmaking and the printed newspaper. From early woodblocks printed in 16th century German newsbooks and colonial American newspapers, to contemporary artists who incorporate or respond to printed mass media in their work, the exhibit reflects the complex nature of this relationship. Emerging and established contemporary artists are included.
Curator Bios: Anders Bergstrom graduated from the University of Arizona, Tucson with degrees in Sociology and Studio Art. As an artist and printmaker, he has collaborated with Leslie Miller at Grenfell Press, New York, and Marginal Editions, Brooklyn, and prints at Manhattan Graphics Center. His prints have been included in many IPCNY New Prints exhibitions. Additionally he has exhibited at Abrons Arts Center, New York; Columbia College, Chicago; and Leonard Pearlstein Gallery, Drexel University, Philadelphia, Plant House New York. His work is held in the collection of the New York Public Library and many private collections.
Anne LaFond earned a B.A. in Russian Studies from Tufts University and her M.F.A. in painting and printmaking from the New York Academy of Art. She has worked with Fred Mershimer and Vijay Kumar and prints at Manhattan Graphic Center.
