Robert Kulicke “Paintings and Works on Paper 1959-1969”
Tibor de Nagy Gallery
This event has ended.
The show is the first time the gallery has exhibited the works of Robert Kulicke. The artist was born in Philadelphia in 1924. He is noted for his small and delicate still life oil paintings and his intimate gouaches and pencil on paper.
The exhibition will focus on his works from the 1960s, a period during which the artist’s work gradually evolved from paintings with simple forms and dark gray backgrounds, to works from late the same decade where the backgrounds become lighter. He referred to the style of these later paintings as “Classical Illusionism.” Kulicke was well-known as an innovator of post-war framing.
