This event has ended.

An exhibition of recent sculptural works, "Shadow" will be James Meyer’s fourth one-person exhibition with the gallery. The works in "Shadow" are a continuation of a theme the artist has made central to his work for many years. The focus of recent paintings, drawings and now dynamic wall sculptures has been the romantic idea of unstructured and unsupervised downtime. This world is peaceful and bucolic, filled with children enjoying the singular pleasures of outdoor games, shimmering sunny weather, and simple acts of discovery. This type of activity is seen as almost old-fashioned today, given the preponderance of computer games and multimedia distractions. The act of doing nothing is seen as quaint, in a time where hyperactivity and multitasking are the norm. In Meyer’s world, this retro-focus is comforting; time stretches out to become timeless, and by extension, sacred.
