ARTyleria's BATTLE AUGUST, 2012 @ POSTMASTERS GALLERY
14 dancers will be invited to battle in teams of 2, representing various street dance styles to the beats of DJ DP One from the Turntable Anihilists www.djdpone.com on the Postmasters Gallery floor. This battle honors the talented dancers from New York and Philadelphia that have been featured on the YAK FILMS YouTube Channel in 2012. Come witness different dance styles from bboying to popping, flexing and experimental battle it out for the title of New Yak City kings or queens. There will only be one winning team and one prize. Who will prove to be the smoothest, the freshest, razor-edge sharp? With the dancers defying gravity in every move and fooling nature with their bodies these battles are bound to be EXPLOSIVE. The walls will dance with their own rhythm through the works of artists Natalia Yovane, Michael Farmer, Agata Bebecka, Ellie Pyle and others.
YAK Films, the legendary urban dance film crew and veterans of the dance battle scene started out in Oakland, CA documenting TURF dancing on the streets. International recognition quickly caught up thanks to YAK Films founders’ passion for dancers of all styles and their dedication to representing the global dance movement in its most raw and authentic form.
