This event has ended.

An exhibition of oils rendered in the early twentieth century by the Australian-born Hayley Lever (1875-1958). Lever brought to his paintings of such subjects as the Cornish seaport of St. Ives, coastal New England, and New York City, a versatile energy and an originality that were lauded in his day. Edgar Cahill wrote of Lever in 1922: “It is always a blessed relief to find an artist who has the courage not to be ashamed of his own individuality, and to face the world as himself, not as a member of some group or other.” Lloyd Goodrich stated in 1929: “Hayley Lever... is one of the freshest and most vigorous painters who are still allied with the Academy. He does not depend upon stale academic recipes but prefers to see and paint things in his own way.”
