This event has ended.

Accumulations is an exhibition exploring the idea of ‘total surface.’ When does an artist know when an artwork is complete? It is as intuitive as the process of mark making itself, resolve is achieved when there is nothing left to realize. The viewer is asked to enter at the moment when a sense of discovery in the work transcends the actual physicality of the piece. It’s the completion one sees when looking at a newly constructed building, with hinged windows and operating doors. With total surface one can access its form at first glance, but then slowly dissolve into its intricate structure.

As stated by Rudolf Arnheim in Entropy and Art: “When nothing superfluous is included and nothing indispensible left out, one can understand the interrelation of the whole and its parts...”
