Each artist’s unique style is vibrantly abstract and expressive with a strong sense of harmony, feeling, and dynamism. Hisako Kobayashi’s hard-worked colorful surfaces, reminiscent of Mark Rothko and Bruce Marden, portray an emotional and poetic process that embody harmony in the disarray of nature. Her lighter colors reflect the quality of light and achieve a feeling of translucency. Kobayashi’s abstract multi-layered paintings reflect impulses of dynamism and feeling while creating a three-dimensional accord. Jin-Seob Yun plays with vivid color by creating modern figures with color fabrics and strings that similarly illustrate various feelings and emotions but in a playful manner. Yun’s work has been described as both allegoristic and comical while addressing the clashes of desire and illusion one searches for in life. As a classically trained artist, Denise Petit Caplan uses a broad spectrum of mediums in dynamic layers to create glowing harmonious multi-media works full of color and expression. Her multicultural exposure and her career in Decorative Textiles have influenced her focus in fine art and have helped enrich her work through experience.
