Persona, Nobuhito Nishigawara’s first solo exhibition in New York, will open at Tally Beck Contemporary this Wednesday, September 5, 2012, with an opening reception from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. We will be one of the many Lower East Side galleries opening their fall exhibitions that evening. The exhibition will run through November 11, 2012.
Nishigawara is a California-based Japanese artist who creates multimedia pieces by pairing sculpture with blurred pigment prints. He references art history and archeology, most notably Japanese haniwa figures. Emphasizing contextualization and repurposing, Nishigawara explores issues of hybrid identity and overlapping narratives.
