This event has ended.

Kelsey, a graduate of the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, has been painting and drawing for over thirty years. He has exhibited in a number of galleries in the Boston area, as well as Cape Cod and New York.

He describes the meaning of the show: "These paintings represent my fondest memories of the walks I went on with my wife and partner of 35 years, Marcia Fishman. She and I would go on vacations and walks together in and around New England-- in the Berkshires when visiting her parents, in the Boston area in Lincoln and Concord, on summer beach vacations on the Cape in Truro and Provincetown.”

Fishman died in 2008 after a 16 month battle with cancer. “I dedicate this show to Marcia and the times we spent together, bird watching and enjoying nature," said Kelsey.

For the first twenty years of his career, Kelsey concentrated almost exclusively on painting landscapes and cityscapes. For the last decade, he has developed a renewed interest in drawing the figure, having shown and sold many drawings in and around Boston. Today, he continues painting landscapes and drawing figures out of his Cambridge studio.

When describing his process, Kelsey said, "The goal of my work is to capture in paint the essence of a scene that I have in my mind’s eye. I create a composite image that eliminates the superfluous and reduces the image down to its essential form and color."

Kelsey is a member of the Concord Art Association and has participated in juried shows, including the Roddy Competition.
