Carabas’ practice investigates the quilted stitch as visual mediator. In this series it bridges the gap between mass-produced and hand dyed fabrics, while simultaneously exploring the creative opportunities presented by exposing the layers upon which it works. The quilter’s traditions are turned inside out in an effort to give form to the emotional life of woman with Bernina in the post-industrial age.
Leslie’s career spans almost 40 years. Her work has been shown throughout Europe and the United States as well as in Taiwan and Japan and is represented in numerous private and corporate collections.
