This event has ended.

New York University's 80WSE Gallery, in collaboration with La MaMA-La Galleria, presents BLUE ALPHA, the Thesis exhibition of graduating MA students from Steinhardt’s Department of Art and Art Professions. Although the exhibition presents art works that represent a broad range of media and subject matter, they are all unified by the strong personal visions of these 6 women artists. Here you will find works by Jacqueline Bishop who presents a series of paintings and photo-montages that explore her familial and geographic roots through memories of home and family; the fantastical painterly visions of Hyejin Kim’s inner dream world; Kerry-Ann Brown-Louis’ haunting figures enshrouded in rich fabrics and adorned with accessories that conjure a mythological world of ancient beings brought to life; Graciela Cassel’s urban dystopia of existentialist figures who are lost, isolated, or otherwise engaged in a nightmarish cycle of activity worthy of Sysyphus; figures in photographs by Jayne Burke who are seen caught in actions that approach the absurd and force the viewer to wonder what’s amiss; and finally one can get lost in deep space with the 3-D universe of Liz Schnore’s cosmic nebulae.
