Douglas Huebler "Crocodile Tears"
Paula Cooper Gallery "521 W 21 St."
This event has ended.
The Paula Cooper announces our first one-person exhibition of works by Douglas Huebler (1924-1997). The exhibition will include works inspired by a screenplay Huebler wrote between 1979 and 1981, titled Crocodile Tears. The screenplay weaves together issues of the 1980s artworld using as its protagonist a death-defying performance artist who must escape various enemies, including an unscrupulous art dealer and a pool teeming with crocodiles.
The works in the show shift back and forth between various types of information (text, painted image, photographic image), freely combining “fine” art and popular culture.
