The gallery presents twelve still life paintings that were completed over the last two years. The artist’s paintings are intimate and intensely observed, and never larger than a foot square. The still lifes are painted at close range, and take in carefully arranged objects including bowls, grape fruits, blueberries, corks, forks and spoons. Although the compositions are meticulously considered and the painted surfaces worked, the paintings remain open, the inventory of household objects lending a feeling of domesticity and aliveness. The artist creates a private world and allows the viewer inside.
