Michael Werner Gallery presents "Buzz Kill", an exhibition of new works by Aaron Curry.

Buzz Kill is Aaron Curry's second exhibition at Michael Werner Gallery, New York, and his most ambitious exhibition to date. The artist will transform the gallery into an environment of total perceptual and physical immersion. A new monumental steel sculpture forms the centerpiece of Buzz Kill: extending from the four corners of the gallery, and reaching from the floor to the ceiling, this massive painted sculpture divides the exhibition space into individual "rooms" through which viewers can move. Freestanding sculptures in painted wood and metal, and a group of new three-dimensional, wall-mounted works, occupy the individual spaces. Hand-silkscreened cardboard covers the walls, floor and ceiling of the gallery, mimicking the surfaces of the sculptures and alternately mirroring or camouflaging their forms. Buzz Kill further extends the artist's exploration of the modernist canon into a contemporary visual language of form, color and space, adding further levels of complexity to the relationships between drawing and form, abstraction and figuration, and dimensions real and virtual.

Aaron Curry was born in San Antonio, Texas, in 1972. He studied at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and Art Center College of Design, Pasadena, and in 2010 was awarded the Guna S. Mundheim Fellowship in the Visual Arts at the American Academy in Berlin.
