Ceres Gallery presents Kathlene Tracy: BEING. In an exhibition of 10 large scale charcoal drawings on paper, Tracy investigates the permanency of all living things and the exchange between nature and humans through figurative renderings of trees. Using charcoal as a vehicle; line, perspective, and shadow fuse to capture each tree's existence asking for identification from the viewer and a deeper exploration of how all beings are interconnected. Concepts such as continuity of life and metaphysical representations are explored through subject matter that is delicately depicted in this recent body of work. The drawings reverberate on both technical and emotional levels and lay bare the artist's acute and perceptual understanding of nature and its role in today's society. Trees are in our everyday visual field. Tracy's work invokes a reminder that the environment is a naturally occurring artist canvas with no boundaries. Kathlene Tracy has pursued studies and a career in both visual art and innovative approaches to the treatment of chronic psychiatric disorders viewing each pursuit as a compliment to the other. Her work is represented in public and private collections and has been exhibited in New York City and nationally.
