"Triangle Factory Fire" Exhibition
The Museum at FIT
This event has ended.
WHAT: A visual interpretation of the Triangle Factory Fire in 1911, its impact, and its aftermath by 26 FIT graduate students in the college’s MFA in Illustration program. Works are executed in gouache, oil paint, clay sculpture, collage, and digital media. There is also an interactive presentation.
WHO: Students worked with FIT’s U.S. History Department and representatives of the Remember the Triangle Fire Coalition, who acted as a “living manuscript” for them— narrating the events that led to the fire and all that has happened since. As the story was told, the students drew their impressions of it. FIT presented events in March 2011 to commemorate the centennial anniversary of the fire and held ceremonies of remembrance in March 2012.
