As a high-spirited American original, she’s a visionary. Her knowledge and experience of dance, acting, and music all embody the word “Artist”. She believes in multi-faceted creativity when it comes to art, the art world and collaborations.
Shelley also has a strong body of work which places her in the Neo-Contemporary Abstract Art scene in America. Relying on her experience and education, she creates a suggestive world of drama and mystery. Experimenting with texture, soft hues and color tensions in abstracted forms, she combines under-painting with over-laid top imagery: seeking the turning point of abstraction out of figuration. Her awareness of theatre and music gives her paintings a dramatic mysterious quality. The character in all her paintings, whether it be from her “Mountain Series” or her modern abstractions, all contain the character and texture of a sensual sensitivity.
Born in Boston, Massachusetts, Shelley Joy set the stage for her artistic career at the age of 15, and held her first exhibition at the Museo de San Miguel de Allende in Mexico.
