Michael de Kok Exhibition
Bertrand Delacroix Gallery
This event has ended.
De Kok’s unspoiled landscapes are vast and share with us the intimacy of solitude. Whether the subject is a mountain, road, or building, de Kok reduces the scene to the basic fundamentals of line, shape and form; creating an isolated yet familiar landscape. By exploring the effects of light and dark, and maintaining a palette of earthy colors, he captures the impact of the moment – seemingly endless skies, open spaces and an often blurred horizon. Each individual painting tells a story of a moment of a journey – a pause along the way. And, together, the paintings tell the full story. It is a journey with a goal, but no end. The horizon is never reached.
Michael de Kok was born in 1958 in Hilvarenbeek, Netherlands. He currently lives and works in Tilburg, NL. De Kok attended the prestigious Rijksakademie Amsterdam after completing studies at the Akademie St. Joost, Breda. He has exhibited throughout Belgium, the Netherlands, Greece and France. Recent museum exhibitions include Museum de Wieger, Stedelijk Museum Leiden (NL) and Stadsmuseum Woerden (NL).
