poster for Jan Hakon Erichsen Exhibition

This event has ended.

I work within a variety of media focusing on topics like fear, anger and frustration. I have spent several years perfecting a D.I.Y aesthetic with found objects being the main source of work material.

In Seek and Destroy a leather armchair is shot with a bow and arrow, hung from the ceiling and then slaughtered like a wild animal. We can only see the hunter’s hands and feet, while he executes his actions with disturbing, cold determination. This is one of several works where I strive to force to viewer into feeling remorse for inanimate objects. Through slaughtering a chair I seek to question and alter the way we look at the objects that surround us and the way we live our lives in the modern world. -Jan Hakon Erichsen
