This event has ended.

The exhibition "Imagined Memories – A Family Album" will feature recent works of artist Jenna Lash on display at Synchronicity Fine Arts in the West Village, New York City.

Lash's work focuses on the subjects of family and family dynamics, where line and form parallel the complexity of emotions. Color and space mirror the contrasting facets of lineage and relationships.

"In many ways, I am getting to know myself through my history. Connecting is part of the human spirit," said artist Jenna Lash. "I am pushing the discovery of these bonds and hopefully stopping at the right places."

Attending to the role of memory in both living experiences and those preceding her, Lash explores ties to her past and more broadly, how the family story shapes one's worldview.

"I want to let the process lead me. Each painting takes me someplace new," said Lash. "The imagination is how I am living my life."

Her current 15 piece exhibition, featuring oil on canvas, is focused on the process of discovering the family and consequently, the self. The idea for the works came while caring for her elderly parents, both who suffered from termina cancer, and then allowing herself to both grieve for her loss and celebrate their lives. The journey is as telling and meaningful as its' ultimate revelations. Inspired by her domestic and overseas travels, Lash seeks to constantly challenge the content of her art and the mediums used to convey her message.
