This event has ended.

In 2011, Ana Tzarev debuted her latest floral paintings at the Santralistanbul Museum in Istanbul,Turkey. The exhibition titled "Ana Tzarev Exposed: A Secret Garden" featured vivid, energetic and colorful flowers from around the world. These bold new works by Tzarev symbolized friendship, love and compassion. By sharing her love of flowers with the viewer, Tzarev invited the audience to be a part of her secret garden - an intimate moment between the artist and her love of nature. In conjunction with Tzarev’s exhibition, young school children from the city of Beyoglu were invited to walk through the exhibit and learn more about her artwork. Afterwards, the children worked directly with the artist, creating their very own secret gardens; inspired by Tzarev’s intense and lively palette the children created pictures with pigmented crayons. The pictures represent their happiness, love, and friendship. The result was intimate and colorful drawings expressing sincere love for their new far away New York friends.

In response to the drawings created by the children of Istanbul, Ana Tzarev hosted a corresponding workshop in New York City. Echoing the workshop in Istanbul, the gallery welcomed young children from various institutions in New York. These children were taken on a tour of Tzarev’s flowers, and reflected on their meaning of love, kindness, peace, and friendship. After the tour, the children reciprocated their expressions of friendship by creating their own drawings for their Turkish friends in Istanbul. These drawings, alongside the original drawings from Istanbul, were shown in parallel with an intimate selection of Ana Tzarev’s floral paintings.
