"Puppet Theatre of the Nations: Fidena 2012" Exhibition

20 productions from all over the world will be presented in Bochum, Herne and Essen, the spectrum ranging from classical puppet theatre to movement theatre and performances. In Braquage, for instance, a play by the French ensemble Cie Bakélite, everyday household items are used to portray a bank robbery and the ensuing pursuit. In a piece of Belgian dance theatre entitled Lamali Lokta, five characters fall out of a book and have to reinvent themselves in their new reality.
The objects used are not only limited to small everyday items, however. In Transports Exceptionnels - i.e. abnormal loads – the French ensemble Beau Geste transforms Marienplatz in Bochum into a stage and puts on a dance theatre performance, accompanied by classical opera music, featuring a man and a shovel excavator. Meanwhile, people taking part in a guided tour of Schlosspark in Essen may suddenly find themselves face to face with giraffes – when the Italian stilt-walking theatre group Teatro Pavana intervenes, that is..
