Louis K. Meisel Gallery presents the premiere solo exhibition of Belgian artist Daniel Dens. A contemporary artist influenced by Pop Art, Dens continues his "La, La, La" exhibition series with a return to SoHo—the location in which his New York career began. "La La La SoHo" features Dens' screenprints on canvas and his collaged sculptures.

Working from a limited palette of punchy colors, Dens juxtaposes iconic silkscreened images that are at once historic and contemporary, counter-culture and mainstream. Images of celebrities, political figures, and albums are layered against news type, creating compositions that reflect a sensationalized vision of the world. Comparing the glamor of European celebrities with the grittiness of rock culture, Dens' imagery is both playful and dramatic, and is heightened by his use of vivid, primary colors.

"La, La, La" is an exhibition series that Dens began in 2010. The phrase first appeared in his 2008 silkscreen "Nico", and it has continued to punctuate his work ever since. Now replicating the phrase in three-dimensions, Dens has made "La, La, La" tangible—an icon in and of itself. Featured amongst his silkscreens, these sculptures embody the tone through which Dens views and creates his own work.

Dens (b. 1966) is a self-taught artist that was born and raised in Belgium. In 2002, he moved to Venice, California, where he taught himself how to paint, silkscreen and collage. For the past seven years, Dens has been in New York City refining his technique in the production of high-quality silkscreen paintings and sculptures. Dens' work is best known for its celebrity collectors and caché. In addition to having three recent solo shows in the New York area, including an ongoing show at Saatchi & Saatchi from 2008-2010, Dens was commissioned to complete several paintings for the VH1 Hip Hop Honors and Critics' Choice Awards in 2008 and 2009 respectively. His work has also been featured in films including "I Think I Love My Wife" and "P.S. I Love You". "La, La, La SoHo" is the third exhibition in Dens' "La, La, La" series.
