poster for "Life Is… The Most Exciting Japanese Calligraphy" Exhibition

This event has ended.

Originating in Japan, this calligraphy exhibition has traveled all the way to NY and consists of works by 90 children and 140 adults from all walks of life, including business men, house wives, company owners, designers, and announcers, all putting great thought into creating unique, individualized works. Through their work, they hope that their message will reach people in NY, and eventually around the globe. This “Life is…” exhibition highlights the most important things in life and things to be grateful for, with a goal of leaving visitors feeling happy, encouraged, excited, and more motivated than ever before. This exhibition has many unique features, for example, all of the works in this exhibition were created by the pupils of Takeda Souun, all of whom hope visitors will enjoy this exciting and innovative, but still traditional, exhibition with interest and compassion. The artists’ comments are displayed alongside their works. The master of their school, Japanese calligrapher Takeda Souun, has also displayed his work at this exhibition, not as a teacher, but rather as a member of Futaba no Mori, just like other students. This is the group’s first exhibition both inside Japan and abroad.
