Jordan Eagles "HEMOFIELDS" Exhibition
Krause Gallery
This event has ended.
KRAUSE GALLERY presents its second solo exhibition by artist JORDAN EAGLES titled HEMOFIELDS. Eagles will also present two other solo exhibitions in September at the International Museum of Surgical Science in Chicago, IL (opening September 14) and at The Butcher’s Daughter in Detroit, MI (opening September 22), and will be participating in a group exhibition at the See Line Gallery in Los Angeles, CA (opening September 19).
Eagles has been using preserved animal blood in his multidimensional works for over a decade. Through his experimental, self-invented process, Eagles applies blood to layers of clear plexiglass and then permanently preserves the organic material with layers of resin, allowing the high-gloss surface to suspend the fluid, organic forms.
In HEMOFIELDS, Eagles presents a new series exploring the various colors and textures of blood as it reacts during the resin’s cure time, as well as minimal works created with blood-soaked gauze stretched over black acrylic boxes. The presence of light reveals the blood's translucency and the fabric’s suspended grid between the multiple layers of clear resin, illuminating pools of pulsating earth tones above its copper backing. The result of Eagles’ new work has a remarkably luminous effect as the blood permanently maintains its rich color and natural texture.
