School of Visual Arts (SVA) presents “Touch,” an exhibition of collage and painting by three students in the MFA Fine Arts Department exploring the interplay between color, form and symbol. The exhibition is curated by Richard Brooks, assistant director of student galleries..

Autumn-Grace Dougherty’s sewn fabric paintings reference both the tradition of quilt piecing and contemporary abstract painting. The artist combines fabric remnants, yarn and thread into exquisitely balanced compositions that convey both exuberant spontaneity and rigorous formality.

Executed in a subtle palette of mauves, tinted blues and pinks, Bo Kim’s oil-on-canvas paintings combine geometric and organic forms. Hand-drawn circles, stripes and rectangles blend with biomorphic imagery in balanced, meditative compositions that invite viewers to discover unexpected associations.
Using vibrant color and reductive form, Cassandra Levine creates paintings that have a monumental intensity. The artist synthesizes drawing, mono-printing and painting to create personal symbols that convey elemental human experiences such as birth, sex and death.
