This event has ended.

Lambert Fine Arts announces Migration in Motion featuring new work from notable Caribbean artists, Jean-Guerly Pétion of Haitian origin and Guadeloupe-based French artist Benito Valadié.

Steeped in socio-political commentary, the work of Pétion and Valadié demonstrates unique perspectives on both very personal concerns and broad social issues involving migration and adaptation to a previously alien culture and maintaining connection to their own cultural roots. As a result, each artist presents different and fascinating perspectives on sexuality, identity, and society in the modern era.

Pétion and Valadié also share a focus on exploring universal contemporary urban issues and commenting specifically on Caribbean culture from both the inside, through open self-reflection, and the outside, through comparative cultural criticism. Their work certainly provokes thought and emotion in the viewer, but their art is also extremely talented, technically innovative, and truly beautiful.
