This event has ended.

Howard Scott Gallery presents the second solo exhibition of Berlin based artist Sati Zech, Rauschrot / Red Rush.

Sati Zech's artwork floats between paintings, drawings and sculptures. They are in a world literally of their own.

For a long time, the work of sculptor/painter Sati Zech elective affinities belong to such artists as Louise Bourgeois, Eva Hesse and Kiki Smith. While she is also attracted to such opposite artistic characters as Wols or Blinsky Palermo, has exclusively executed two-dimensionally, she often transforms her work into delicate relief-like material forms. Thick viscous red-hued paint shaped and scrapped upon strips of naked cloth emanates feeling of femaleness, power and passion, her cycles and repetitions.

Sati Zech's unrelinquishingly inquisitive and impressive body of work is modulated by the intense saturation of reality with emblematic analogies. Raised in Southern Germany, the artist says of her emerging work "I am a person of the Baroque and in Berlin, I miss the hills. It's not a coincidence that things are red, and the past years have been exclusively red.

"The color black has recently re-emerged with the leather and especially with a shift towards space and sculpture-leather is skin, the handling of bodies, toyed with until the skins tear. The aspect of violence intrinsic to leather is purposeful, not a coincidence- but should not stand in the foreground, since the works should always move in ambivalence.
