Dacia Gallery presents “Power and Beauty” a solo exhibition by Janet A. Cook. "Powerful, beautiful and timeless” is how J. A Cook describes the figure. For Cook the figure is an endless source of fascination and the most demanding of all subject matters. Her work is influenced by the artists from as long ago as the renaissance and mannerist periods right up to the current day graffiti artists working on the walls of New York City. She combines the fluidity and movement from these old masters with a contemporary set of imagery that is not only from this world, but also from her imagination. Abstraction, repetition, pattern and symbolism, are important components, but her ultimate goal is to intrigue and engage the viewer. Cook recently participated in a four-person invitational at the Trenton City Museum, NJ and was featured on NBC's 'Dateline' program, the 'Da Vinci Code'. Her work was featured in the New York Times and reviewed in the Times of Trenton, NJ.
