Dacia Gallery presents ‘Grace in the Light’ a solo exhibition of works by conceptual realist painter, Victoria Selbach. Victoria’s figurative paintings explore the female form dressed in light and shadow. Although the mind is tuned to see the woman first and drawn to the human form, in these works the impact of the underlying abstraction, created by light, fights for dominance. Victoria conveys in her sensitive yet penetrating depiction's of beauty bathed in light an honest presence and a sense of knowing. Yet the juxtaposition of the dense recess of shadow draws our awareness to the truths that lie well beyond our current understanding. Victorias studio is in New York and her paintings have been shown in New York and across the country including works currently being exhibited in the Heckscher Museum of Art and the Butler Institute of American Art.
