This event has ended.

“Exploding Sky” will feature Matt Enger's limited edition screen printed street wear, large inspiration drawings, sculpture and vintage American firearms. “Exploding Sky” is the name of the studio founded in the early 90s by twin brother artists Matt and the late Mark Enger on New Yorks lower east side. The Enger brothers began making silk screen paintings and street wear that reflected their knowledge and passion for American and Native American history and traditions, Pop Art, the 1960s, motorcycles, and their love of the chaos and freedom that has always been New York. The brothers’ street wear was quickly adopted by the local musicians, including The Boredoms, Metallica, Lubricated Goat and others. Matt and Mark collaborated through silk-screen printing with many artists and designers as well. (Kiki Smith, Donald Baechler, Catherine Malandrino, Robert Rauschenberg, Spooky, and others.) In the current showing at the Christopher Henry Gallery, 127 Elizabeth Street, New York, Matt has created a futuristic day-glo plastic hanging room divider consisting of 72 one foot square panels featuring several views of a 900 year old Anasazi Indian Skull. The inspiration drawings are large ink paintings on paper of motorcycles, Indians, Civil War cavalry, fashion models, street scenes, landscapes and his unique vision of Modern Americana. Two couch paintings in the upstairs lounge and an array of vintage Historic American firearms round out Matt’s vision of an iconized contemporary American retail outlet.
