Sophie Vari "Wearable Sculpture"

This event has ended.

Vari’s exploration of jewelry originated as the artist observed her mini-models for sculpture, and felt the urge to make one into wearable jewelry. She only wants the best, stating “if the material is beautiful, the passage of time instead of wearing it out, will refine it.” Vari creates these pieces as works of art, adapting them to be worn only after they have been conceived.

In Vari’s jewelry we find harmony between geometry, abstraction and humanity. Her restrained and polished expression inspires respect, admiration, and irresistible sensuality. As Vari’s works become part of a person’s physical expression, they satisfy the senses and waken the emotions. For Vari this was a profound liberation as she searched for a form of expression that would occupy less space, and still be tangible and alive. Somewhat magically, Vari’s abstract constructions become pendants, rings, bracelets or evening bags that can either be worn or displayed as small sculptures.
