This event has ended.

Beth Lipman's two-dimensional work is simultaneously photographic, documentary, and conceptual. Critically adopting a language pioneered in Baroque and Renaissance Vanitas still lifes, Lipman exploits the transparency and fragility of her chosen medium. She comments on our consumer society riddled with covetousness and vulnerability but offers a version whose visual transparency frustrates the viewer. Her prints deny us the satisfaction of our physical longings through a clever and truly unique process once must see in person to fully enjoy.
