This event has ended.

Contemporary media provides the illusion of connectedness often with visions of destruction. While inundated by an avalanche of information it can be difficult to parse what beauty remains. To paint in the 21st century is to take up the challenge presented by media. Painting is a direct experience - making of marks on a ground. Viewing paintings is a direct experience – we stand and gaze at an object, an object actually there. Leaving traces of its presence within us, painting takes on the quality of a force of nature - gesture becomes an object and experience is unmediated. Though their styles contrast, these artists all challenge us to take the time to look carefully, to let the paintings reveal their worlds in the context of the world around us.
