This event has ended.

The Way We Live Now, currently on view at Brooke Alexander Gallery, is a slightly twisted view into the trappings of modern life. The gallery has been transformed into exterior and interior spaces, presenting over 35 artists whose work creates an unusual context for every day living.

Upon entering the gallery, a saturated exterior landscape with picket fences and blue skies belay a slightly menacing environment. Andy Warhol Cows linger in a distant field while works from Richard Artschwager John Baldessari, Allan McCollum and Raymond Pettibon create a skewed view of a suburban landscape.

In the main space one encounters a dimly lit and half-constructed dwelling. Each room, partially visible from the others, evokes an aspect of habitation: the things we collect and surround ourselves with, and the identities we live by. Works by Dan Graham, Martin Kippenberger, Jeff Koons, Matthew McCaslin, Bruce Nauman, Tom Otterness, Ken Price, Cindy Sherman, and Franz West define these interior spaces in an unexpected way.
