"Bigger Than You" Exhibition

Kunsthalle Galapagos presents Bigger Than You, a group show presenting 14 artists that push the confines of traditional printmaking. All the artists are currently graduate students at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, and are enrolled in either Grayson Cox's Silkscreen class, or Erik Hougen's Lithography class. The idea arose as an alternative to the typical critique-based MFA studio class, as well as a way to have a dialogue with an audience, beyond both the classroom and the university. Taking the theme "Bigger Than You," as their starting point, these students used their knowledge of printmaking, not to create an end product, but rather as a starting point to create other work. Featuring video, sculpture, painting, a mobile, the artists in Bigger Than You have employed irreverent uses of the printmaking process as a beginning into deeper explorations of their artistic practice.
